On being selected for the exceptional opportunity to exhibit your artwork in the 2023 Stampede Rotary Dream Home.
Since the Dream Home Artist Project’s inception, we’ve had a number of recurring submissions. Of all the submissions received this year, McKenna’s subject matter and artistic style, combining acrylic paints and hand-stitched embroidery threads best fit the style of this year’s Dream Home.

McKenna‘s style includes using acrylic paint on handmade stretched canvas, creating layers in a collaged style, and mixing realistic, flat, and patterned elements. Her works feature animals, plants, landscapes, portraits, and still-life objects, with a particular emphasis on wildlife-inspired collections. For added unique texture, she adds embroidering to each of her paintings.

Growing up in a family full of painters, knitters, cooks, and craftsmen from Alberta and the Maritimes has been the biggest inspiration for McKenna. With this influence, she strives to bring warmth and happiness into each of her paintings, hoping to spark joy when they are displayed in people's homes.

McKenna incorporates her work into her daily life with her family.
“My family's support for my artwork extends beyond emotional encouragement, such as my Dad helping me build frames for my artwork. And during our family movie nights, I sit on the couch with my big 4' x 4' canvas in front of me, while the rest of my family eats popcorn. For me, creating art is not just a job, but a lifestyle, that my family happily embraces.”
