Homes by Avi 10/9/2003

On Sunday, October 5, team “AVI HOME STRETCH”, led by President and Founder Avi Amir was awarded the CIBC Corporate Team Spirit Award at the conclusion of the 12th annual CBCF-CIBC Run for the Cure in Calgary. The CIBC Corporate Team Spirit Award is given to the corporate team that raises the most money. It is one of a number of awards in different categories given out to recognize the outstanding efforts of teams, schools, corporations and individuals in each Run site.

The Homes by Avi team, made up of thirteen employees raised over $12,700. Their participation in the CBCF-CIBC Run for the Cure is just another element in an ongoing partnership between Homes by Avi and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) – Alberta/NWT Chapter that was originally launched in June.

The CBCF-Alberta/NWT Chapter will also receive the net proceeds from the sale of Homes by Avi’s “Home of Hope”, the Evergreen Estates Showhome located at 138 Evergreen Common SW.

“Our company feels it is important to be a responsible corporate citizen,” says Avi Amir, President and Founder of Homes by Avi. “We contribute to the society that in turn supports us, and we see supporting the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation – Alberta/NWT Chapter as a perfect opportunity to do that.”

In Calgary alone, 12,000 runners and walkers united at Eau Claire Market to raise over $1 million for breast cancer research and community projects. Nationally, 160,000 Canadians ran and walked either 1k or 5k as part of the CIBC Run for the Cure in 39 communities, and raised over $17 million for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

The CBCF – Alberta/NWT Chapter works to create a future without breast cancer through funding, supporting and advocating for relevant and innovative breast cancer research, meaningful education and awareness programs, early diagnosis, effective treatment and a positive quality of life for those living with breast cancer.
