Homes by Avi True to Their Schools 3/15/2005
For eight years, Homes By Avi has had an ongoing partnership with
Ernest Morrow and Bishop Kidd Jr, High Schools through various programs such as student achievement awards and facility improvements. Homes By Avi staff are invited into the classroom to teach world topics and students are brought into the company office, show homes and worksites as part of the hands on learning experience. This ongoing support is designed to help give our young people insight to better prepare them for making choices in the future.
Last week Monte Kendall V.P. of Finance for Homes by Avi is
presented these two schools with a cheque for $12,500. Representing Bishop Kidd Jr. High, we had principal Norm Martin and student representatives Jessie Pelletier and Kim Honke. From Ernest Morrow Jr. High we had principal Arvin Rajan and representatives Peiseth Pich & Trang Luong.
The Jack James High School partnership evolved as a response to the construction industry’s concerns regarding the shortage of trained
workers. Every year a home is completed on the school grounds, its
shipped to its permanent location, sold, and the profits re-invested
into the school partnership.
Representing Jack James High School, we had Karl Boorman, work
experience teacher and student representatives Kyle Whyte & Andrew McLauchlan, who in appreciation of Homes by Avi's commitment to real learning and giving Jack James Students the opportunity to build a home, presented Homes by Avi with their School Jersey.
